2017 Silver – Achievement in Quality Award

Life Care Center of Palm Bay, Florida, recently received the 2017 Silver – Achievement in Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living.

The center was notified of its achievement on Aug. 4. Only 191 Silver awards were given this year nationwide.

“We are most excited for our associates as they so deserve the recognition for all of their hard work,” said Nancy McGoldrick, senior executive director at Life Care Center of Palm Bay. “Each associate is dedicated to ensuring our residents’ needs are met to their satisfaction.”

Implemented by AHCA/NCAL in 1996, the National Quality Award Program is centered on the criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The program assists providers of long-term and post-acute care services in achieving their performance excellence goals.

The program has three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Facilities begin at the Bronze level and must earn an award at each level before applying for the next. They must fill out a detailed application for each tier.

Life Care Center of Palm Bay focused its application for the Silver Award on its three-year decrease in hospital readmissions, overall customer satisfaction and year-over-year five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

“Achievement of the Silver National Quality Award is a prestigious accomplishment recognized throughout the health care community, and we are very proud of the associates at Life Care Center of Palm Bay for their hard work to reach this goal,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “The award is also symbolic of a highly functioning team because it takes the commitment of every associate to win it.”

“I am honored to recognize this year’s Silver award recipients for their dedication to delivering quality care,” said Alana Wolfe, Chair of the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers. “I applaud these facilities’ ability to effectively apply the Baldrige criteria to improve quality performance.”

The Award will be presented formally during AHCA/NCAL’s 68th Annual Convention and Exposition, Oct. 15 – 18, in Las Vegas.
