The award was presented during the regional Rewarding Excellence banquet, held this year in North Palm Beach. Each of the seven facilities in the region brought three facility CNA winners, all of whom were eligible for the regional award, as well as a Team Spirit Award winner.
“It was actually very overwhelming, and I appreciated receiving all this recognition from my peers and co-workers,” said Boddeker. “It means a lot to me. I truly believe that each person makes a difference in someone’s life every day, and I try very hard to do that. I have been with Life Care Centers of America for 25 years, and I so love what I do.”
Boddeker has been at Life Care Center of Palm Bay since 2007. She works on the facility’s secured memory unit and was praised for her individual approach to each resident and the positive example she sets for the whole team.
“She is one of the hardest-working CNAs I have ever met,” said one of her nominators. “Sharon does all of those little things that mean so much to her residents.”
Outside of her daily tasks, she is involved in many of the of the center’s charitable fundraisers, including those for the American Heart Association.
Life Care Center of Palm Bay presented its facility level CNA of the Year Awards to two other aides. Dominico Belarmino, restorative nursing assistant, was praised for assisting in other departments helping to create a happy environment with his singing. Jennifer Patrick, CNA, was praised for her flexibility in her work hours and taking time to lend a listening ear to residents.
Amie Downing, laundry assistant, won the Team Spirit Award for the center. She was praised for her dependability and her gentle care of resident clothing.
